New Delhi: Indian travel is about to get a lot better.
While travel agencies like the country’s most popular travel website Indias Travel have been busy trying to connect people and travellers with local services and resources, there’s also a growing number of companies that offer direct, in-person travel.
The trend, in part, stems from the countrys growing middle class, which is growing fast and people want to get their hands on a better, cheaper and more reliable way to get to their destinations.
With the growing number and accessibility of Indian cities, travel agencies are looking to expand to accommodate people who might not have the means to travel by plane.
This means that the best travel destinations are starting to be recognized and even recognized by their own companies, says Nandita Singh, a senior marketing executive at Mumbai-based travel agency The Travel Group.
For instance, one of the first to take the Indian market by storm was Jetstar.
The service started offering direct flights in 2016 and now has around 1.4 million users.
But this has been a slow, steady march, Singh says.
“It’s been a very slow, gradual rollout.
We’ve had to do this over time and there are a few factors that are contributing to the slow start,” she says.
Singh says that Jetstar started in the middle of 2016 as a way to expand Jetstar’s reach, and the company was looking for an Indian partner in order to help it scale.
However, Jetstar was unable to attract the right person and decided to focus on developing its own network of services and expanding its network of partners.
This meant it needed to build partnerships with the likes of Tata Consultancy Services, PricewaterhouseCoopers India, PwC India and others to get the right people in the right places to build relationships.
Singham says Jetstar, along with other Indian travel agencies, is now looking to add new destinations to its portfolio, and to connect its customers with new services.
One of the new destinations is India’s second largest city, Delhi.
“We are going to look at the most promising cities and work out the best way to connect them with the best airlines,” she explains.
For now, JetStar is focusing on the cities of Mumbai and Pune, which are both very popular with people who travel by air.
Singhen says that with this move, Jetseeker has started building relationships with major Indian travel services, such as Indian Airways, Air India and Aircel, as well as smaller travel services like Vividseal and Travelocity.
“We’re going to expand our network of Indian travel partners in India, especially in Delhi,” she said.
“If you want to travel from Pune to New Delhi, you’re going have to take a flight from Delhi to Pune,” she adds.
Singhan says Jetseek has started looking for partners that will help Jetseker connect more people to its service, and will eventually expand its network to more destinations.
“The next phase of expansion is going to be about connecting more people and partners across the country, including people who aren’t part of Jetsek’s current network, she says, referring to India’s national carrier.

A lot of people have noticed that Jetseaker is starting to grow, so we are seeing a lot more activity with other travel companies to grow and offer their services to the Indian customer,” Kumar says.

Travel agents like Jetseks are starting up new companies that help them connect travelers with Indian travel providers.
For instance, Jetair is looking to make the service available to the public.
It has partnered with Indias largest travel service, VividSeal, in order get more travelers to book flights on its app.
Indias most popular app, Indias Trip Planner, will also be available on the App store and will allow users to buy tickets for flights.
“Vividseel is working with the travel industry to bring in more passengers through Indias travel app, JetAir, which will help us deliver more flights and allow passengers to book more expensive air travel to India,” says Vikram Bajaj, founder and CEO of Jetair.
Bajj says that when Jetseeks app first launched, it was not able to connect with more than 30,000 customers, but that it now has 100,000.
“When Jetseaks app became available, we had 100,00 customers in less than a month,” he adds.
Another Indian travel company, Aircel India, has also started offering its app
